I can't seem to find the thermostat housing for my car sold separately, and I am guessing I shouldn't reuse the old housing, so does that mean I have to buy two thermostats? There isn't a separate part number for just the housing on Realoem and the original is plastic, right? Why does the OEM BMW stuff that is for sale now look like it's metal? Sorry for all the questions, but as you can see it's not as straight forward as it seems.Honestly man it's a lot easier than what you're imagining.

The most difficult part may be wiring in a resistor, which isn't difficult at all. The process seems simple, as long as i have the right parts. Sorry for all the questions, but as you can see it's not as straight forward as it seems. BTW, I already answered about the 95✬ thermostat from the 840ci above. Thanks for answering above. If you're having troubles you may not enter in this quest actively, since you probably will not be able to make it work and will get frustrated and yell at your tools cussin us for "not aswering" to you. You can even figure it out by looking at them. You yank out the electric connectgor and replace it with the plug that comes in the 740d thermostat and thermostat housing assembly. You buy the 740d thermostat and remove the thermostat fron that housing and put it in the housing of your behr thermoelectric thermostat. I'm pretty sure I read the whole internet. If you can prove me wrong I would be VERY impressed. I swear there is no thread that exists that clearly answers those questions for the M62. I read somewhere that the housing is different? Does that mean I get the housing for my car and swap just the thermostat? Or do I have to retrofit the hose to the new housing like some suggest?

#1997 BMW 540I THERMOSTAT HOUSING CONNECTOR MOD#
It seems to me there should be a sticky that describes this mod in detail.Īlso, I found contradicting info on the 840ci thermostat. If you know of a thread that is a good reference with clear explanations and part numbers then can you point me in that direction? I still can't piece it all together. I even searched again for over an hour today while this forum was down, with no luck. With part numbers and examples and whatnot.Īs usual, thank you for your advice. not to rain on your parade, you won't get much answers as this has been covered and discussed ad nauseum in about half a dozen threads.
